Farewell beautiful Connecticut

It’s been short and very sweet like the pumpkin beer, but it’s time to head on to Rhode Island.

We were told it’s a ‘bad’ fall this year, but for us it’s been breathtaking; every road is lined with amazing colours of gold, amber and red. Just seeing the mist lingering over the Connecticut river as we were tugged across on apparently the oldest, continuously operated ferry crossing in the US was enchanting enough.

The people here also have some serious money – the city of Hartford is nicknamed the insurance capital of the world after all. Every home here is picture perfect, and we’ve never seen so many churches – there seem to be as many as there are residences. As it’s coming up to Halloween, people’s homes are wonderfully decorated with pumpkins and scarecrows, even their cute roadside postboxes are dressed up.

We really weren’t sure what to expect from this state, but we’ve been blown away by its beauty. We’re sad to leave it behind.
